Funeral pre-planning is not one single product. It can mean recording wishes, selecting arrangements, estimating costs, or entering a funding contract. Understanding the difference keeps the process clear.
Start with wishes
Document burial or cremation, ceremony style, music, readings, service location, speakers, memorial details, and the people who should make decisions if a choice remains open.
Review current prices
Use the funeral home’s current General Price List to understand professional services, facilities, transportation, merchandise, and third-party expenses. Current estimates are not automatically future guarantees.
Decide whether to fund
You may document a plan without paying in advance. If you consider pre-funding, review the exact contract, state protections, cancellation terms, refund provisions, portability, and which prices are or are not guaranteed.
Name the right people
Tell a trusted person that a plan exists and where it is kept. Confirm who has authority under applicable state law, especially if family relationships or prior instructions are complex.
Review the plan later
Revisit the document after a move, a change in family circumstances, a new cemetery preference, or a change in financial arrangements. A useful plan should remain current and easy to find.
A NOTE FROM OUR TEAM
You can ask us to slow the process down.
We can review decisions one at a time, explain available choices, and provide applicable price information in writing before arrangements are completed.
